I’m so excited to share some of the images that I took of Ana and Caleb, the two winners chosen during our Fashion Show Event. Mcklyn ,the Seattle Models Guild agent, and his assistant Sarah, greeted many eager faces who waited in line hoping to be the next SMG model. Mcklyn signed on Caleb and Ana with SMG that night and things have moved quite fast for the two. Last I hear they both met with agencies from LA and Milano. Ana was already up for a paid editorial job a week after the fashion show. I’m so happy for both of them. I got to spend the next day after the show photographing them with Mcklyn to get their portfolio started. We photographed the pair in the industrial part of town and then headed for the country. Mcklyn was eager to photograph in open fields because he’s a city dweller so we went out of town about 4 miles to a field by the river. It was a really windy day and it made it hard to hold my off camera soft box, but it really added a cool effect to the images. On the way back to town, Mckyln hopped out of the car at the stoplight under the freeway and we worked there to get the final shots. It was a great day and both kids did an amazing job! Here are some of the images I captured that day.

Fashion Shoot with the Seattle Models Guild
October 20, 2010Fashion Show was a Big Success
October 19, 2010Earlier this school year, we hosted a fashion show along with Flirt and Gaylyn’s Salon. It was a huge success. The models did an amazing job! I’m so proud of them all! Three of our models were CWU football players and they rocked the house. I was lucky enough to have my two sister in town, Carolyn in from Egypt and Judy from Colorado to choreograph the show and help the models find their “walk”. DJ Dominic spun the tunes and the whole show came off seamlessly. The house was packed- standing room only. There was a huge line to see Mcklyn from the Seattle Models Guild and he chose two kids from the audience for a free photo shoot the next day and a modeling contract with SMG. Caleb and Ana were the luck winners and Mcklyn and I spent the next day photographing the pair. Here’s some pics from the catwalk.

Girls State Pictures Ellensburg
June 28, 2010My June has been full of senior photos, family pics and a several annual photography events. One of my favorite annual events that I photograph every June is Girls State and it is located at our very own Central Washington University. Girls State is an Americanism and government training program sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary. It is a nationwide program for girls who have just completed their junior year of high school. This program allows girls the opportunity to live together as self-governing citizens and informs them about the duties, privileges, rights, and responsibilities of American citizenship. Through participation, delegates may better understand the functioning of their government and the responsibilities they will assume when they become adults. Each year, two of the girls from this program will be elected United States Senators representing Evergreen Girls State at Girls Nation in Washington D.C. in July. It’s all very exciting! You can go here Girls State to find out more about this great program. My job is to photograph the each “city” or group of girls at the program. All the girls are so excited to be there and they are really fun to work with. In the last couple years, I’ve incorporated some silly shots of each group that everyone seems to enjoy. I’d like to share a few of the silly photos.
Importance of Education
May 9, 2010I’m a big believe in continuing education. Each year I research and find a couple seminars that I’d like to attend along with one big convention. I think staying up on the latest trends and new techniques is really important to running a successful photography studio. This year in January, I attended Senior Portrait Convention in California. This is one of my favorite conventions because it specializes in Senior Photography and is totally cutting edge. One of the key note speakers at the convention was Travis Gugleman. He is a very successful senior portrait photographer in Idaho. You can check him out here www.gugelmanphotography.com. I really appreciated his fresh approach to senior portraits and his studio is located relatively close to me so I signed up to attend one of his seminars last week. I just got back and I’m so excited to start applying all the cool new techniques I learned. We worked from sun up to sun down averaging about 13 hours a day. We even got to photograph a body builder! I just love to learn…. especially when it’s related to photography or has anything to do with good looking men…Ha. I also took my sales and marketing girl, Sara and we had a lot of fun driving even though it was about a ten hour trip! Check out some of the images that I captured at his workshop.
