December 28, 2010Senior Pictures Ellensburg Washington
December 17, 2010I’d like to share some of Marina’s senior pictures. She is a senior at Ellensburg High School. I photographed her this summer and she wanted me to come out to an old barn that was right by their property. It mean a lot to Marina because it was part of her childhood memories. She had spent a lot of time playing in it growing up. I personally love to photograph in new places, especially old barns or vintage houses. They have so much character. We then headed to my studio in town where we finished her shoot. Marina was really fun and did a great job with her wardrobe. I especially loved her hot pink pumps!
Senior Pictures
December 12, 2010Holly is a senior at East Valley High School. She came to me in the summer to get her senior pictures taken and she was so excited! She had seen her friends pictures that I’d taken and just couldn’t wait to have hers done too. Holly is very outgoing and fun and I had a blast photographing her. She was a natural at posing and knew how to look good. She made my job easy! Holly did a Unique Session so we photographed in the studio and then went out by the river. I love the image with the sun in the background and the tall weeds. Anyway, I had to give Holly a big hug when we were done. We both had a great time. I feel so blessed to have such a wonderfully, fun job!

Lovely Ladies!
December 11, 2010Last year, I had the pleasure of photographing Whitney’s senior pictures. This year, her dad, Bryan, contacted me to photograph all three girls together as a surprise for their mom’s birthday. How sweet is that! I think Bryan had a hard time keeping this a secrete but he managed to pull it off. He took the girls shopping and did an excellent job (with Whitney’s help) picking out outfits that I’d recommend at our phone consultation. He managed to get the girls up to Ellensburg without suspicion. I can’t tell you how sweet these young ladies are! I had a total blast photographing them. Bryan’s idea was to photograph the three girls laying down on the ground with their heads together. The girls mother, Tricia, has taken this shot of the girls every year since they were babies. This year he wanted to surprise Tricia with a professional image. On Tricia’s birthday, Bryan brought Tricia to Ellensburg for dinner and then up to our office. We waited at the office with wine and yelled surprise when they came in. Tricia was totally blown away! Below is the image that they chose for a large gallery wrap to hang above their fireplace and album pages I designed of their session.
Senior Pictures
December 10, 2010Kari came to me in late summer to get her senior pictures taken. I thoroughly enjoyed working with her and I had a lot of fun visiting with her and her mother while we worked. Kari was genuinely sweet and somewhat quiet but I’ve heard though the grapevine that she is quite an athlete. Several other clients after seeing her pictures commented on what great athlete she is. Kari chose my Unique Session that includes studio and on location photography and 4 outfit changes. We started in the studio and then headed up to the CWU campus. Here’s some of my favorite images from her shoot.

One of my favorite photos of the year!
December 9, 2010A couple weeks ago I received a message on facebook from a gal named Jennifer. She wanted me to create images of her daughters, who are both beautiful dancers, that would be unique and different. After a consultation, we decided to do something outside even though the cold weather was heading our way. I drove to Yakima and we met at their favorite park out in the Athanum. Jennifer loves the trees that line the driveway with their vivid red leaves. On that particular day, the weather turned for the worst and it got cold. Let’s just say I was guiltily wearing my winter coat while the girls sported their dance costumes. The girls never complained! They were eager to try whatever I wanted no matter how cold they were. As I worked with the girls, I kept having a vision of an image that captured the essence of their love of dance but was organic feeling yet nurturing. I could see that the girls were very close and Kaitlyn the oldest was amazingly kind and loving with her younger sister. We were running out of time because the sun was starting to drop and the fog and overcast was cutting our day short. I had to find the perfect spot to capture my vision, so we left the park and headed up the road. I finally found what I was looking for… a field of sagebrush! I had the girls change their dance costumes and nestled them amongst the gnarly terrain. I had Kaitlyn sit holding Katia in her lap. Both girls have such poise and femininity reminding me of an old masters painting. I just find this particular image (last image) breathtakingly beautiful ! I’m going to share just a few today but I’ll be posting more images from this shoot in January.

December 8, 2010Hood To Coast Race
December 7, 2010I’d like to share a little bit about a personal endeavor that I’ve participate in for the last 4 years. It’s the Hood to Coast Relay Race. My passion for running got me involved in this race of epic proportion. It’s titled the “Mother of All Relay Races” and it’s the largest relay in the world. The race starts at MT Hood in Oregon, elevation 11,234 ft, and winds it way across Oregon State some 197 to finish at the ocean in the town of Seaside. There are 15,000 people that participate in this grueling race. Eight to twelve people are allowed per team. Every year our team has finished in the top 5 of our age bracket and have earned a spot in open registration. This mean that we bypass the lotto drawing and get a personal invite back to run! This race supports the American Cancer Society and last year it raised $500,000 for ACS. I look forward to this race every year and all the new adventures that it holds!
Two years ago, the race was filmed and the documentary will be showing in theaters across the nation on 1/11/11. Take a peek at the trailer below. It’s quite an unusual race!
Winter Wonderland Senior Pictures!
December 6, 2010Fun in the Snow! Katelyn is a true snow bunny. She feels more comfortable in skis than regular shoes and spends her winter speeding down the slopes. That is why she wanted to do a spit session and have her senior pics taken in the fall and then again once the snow fell. Her mom wanted her to wear her black coat first and……. I just happened to have my red velvet chair in the back of my car so we hauled it out into the snow and I just love the images we got. I then had her change into her ski outfit and we finished her session playing in the snow. Take a look!
